Volver al lugar donde asesinaron a mi madre
by Colectivo Bestia Lúbrica
2021 | Santiago, Chile
“Volver al lugar donde asesinaron a mi madre” tells the story of Diana, a prostitute who, after many years, returns with her friends and lovers to the funeral home where her mother was mysteriously killed. There, she will relive old pains and wounds, forcing her to confront memories of sexual abuse and buried family secrets.
Written by acclaimed playwright Carla Zúñiga and directed by Cheril Linett, a fellow of the Stage Directing Program organized by Goethe-Institut and Fundación Teatro a Mil, the play delves into the profound mother-daughter bond, incest, transphobia, revenge, moralism, and betrayal among women. The creative process explored themes of bestiality and a return to animality, in dialogue with Euripides’ tragedy The Bacchae.
