Peces Caminando!

Performance by Complejo Conejo | PQ Performance 2019

A school of five fish moves through the busiest areas of the city to explore and play with the patterns of relationships and behaviors observed in the daily movement of passersby. Following the movement of the one in front, the fish collect and replicate the actions and stimuli of the same people they interact with on the street. Thus, the school traverses the city, creating clearly defined sequences of movements that invite us to think about another way of inhabiting public spaces.

This performance was funded with support from the Regional FONDART for Creation and Production and premiered at the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space 2019 (Prague, Czech Republic), with the tour funded by FONDART Ventanilla Abierta. After its premiere, it has been presented at various important events in Chile, including the Bio-Bio Theater Festival (Concepción, Chile), the Identidades Festival (Antofagasta, Chile), the Santiago Off Festival (Santiago, Chile), at Famfest 2021 (Quilicura, Chile), at the Municipal Theater of Ovalle (Ovalle, Chile), and at the 5th Itinerant Festival of Performing Arts Atacama (Copiapó, Chile). It was also part of the international CRITICAL COSTUME 2020 meeting (Oslo, Norway), held virtually due to the pandemic.
