Masks for the everyday

Performative installation – 2024

This durational performative installation explores Pedro’s obsession with mask-making.
Over the course of five hours, the installation becomes a masking device: a space where people are invited to share personal stories about identity, transformation, and play, while participating in the making process and choosing the materiality of their new face. The performer’s body undergoes a progressive transformation, blending into the installation, while attendees leave part of themselves behind, emerging with temporary new faces and shedding their old selves into a vibrant, masked, and anonymous community.

The joy of collective, anonymous masking as a queer strategy to challenge the rules of the everyday.
