Elegía de los Andes

2017 | Santiago, Chile

Alexis Moreno, Roberto Contador, Emilia Noguera and Sebastián Escalona wrote texts inspired by Andean myths. Constanza Thümler brings to the stage this work that investigates the conflict between original and contemporary myths.

The origin of man, the coca leaf, the flames and the return to harmony are the Andean myths that inspired the texts of the four playwrights of this work. Alexis Moreno, Roberto Contador, Emilia Noguera and Sebastián Escalona had to create from one of those myths, also considering the story that came before and after theirs in the montage.

The result is a work that problematizes the relationship between nature and man, between the primitive and the modern being, between the profane and the divine, between the cyclical worldview and linear logic. The stories build the portrait of a current cultural identity in crisis, which has forgotten its origins. Constanza Thümler directs a cast made up of Nathalia Aragonese, Isabel Fonseca, Juan Pablo Miranda and Omar Pino. With this premiere, Thümler closes his Relatos Nocturnos trilogy, after Sonata para un cuervo (2014) and El hombre de arena (2016).
