About me

Pedro Gramegna Ardiles is a Chilean director and scenographer, born in Copiapó and currently based in Prague, Czech Republic. He holds an MA in Direction of Devised and Object Theatre from DAMU (Czech Republic) and a BFA in Theatre Design from the Universidad de Chile.
His performances playfully explore an ongoing obsession with making, costume design, materials, and masking as queer strategies that temporarily alter our relationship with the everyday. His creative practice merges scenography and dramaturgy, focusing on the interplay between body, space, and materiality through collaborative, multidisciplinary performance-making.
Since 2025, Pedro has been part of the curatorial team of the Prague Quadrennial, serving as Curator of PQ Performance, shaping the festival’s 2027 international performance program and contributing to its artistic vision.
He is the founder and artistic director of Complejo Conejo, a Chilean collective established in 2011 that creates performances for public space. The group has been a consistent presence at the Prague Quadrennial since 2015; for PQ 2023, they curated Chile’s Pavilion with Memento Mori: Animitas of Chilean Theatre Design. Their work has toured through Chile, the Czech Republic, Egypt, and the UK, exploring visual dramaturgy and experimental uses of the urban environment.
As a director and performer, Pedro has created Máscara, Masks for the Everyday, Máscara: A Lecture Performance with a Twist, and Home is the Place Where Our Memory Is. As a dramaturg, scenographer, lighting, and costume designer, he collaborates with international artists in different projects, including IS JOY (Aljoša Lovrić Krapež), 150 BPM (Počemučka Collective), July 3, 1998: Nothing Ever Truly Dies (Filip Mramor), The Factory: párty pre 50 najkrajších ľudí (Braňo Mázuch), and L’Ombre de ce que j’ai été (Collectif Alternance Théâtre).
Within Europe, his works have been presented at venues and festivals such as Malá Inventura (CZ), Divadlo DISK (CZ), Divadlo X10 (CZ), Theatre Conference JAMU (CZ), Stara Elektrarna (SI), Anton Podbevšek Teater (SI), Mladi Levi (SI), Giornata del Respiro (IT), Scéna Jorik (SK), Théâtre de la Tournelle (CH), and Salle Blackbox (FR).
Earlier in his career, Pedro worked extensively in Chile as a costume and lighting designer for leading theatres and cultural institutions, including Teatro Nacional Chileno (TNCH), Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral (GAM), and Matucana 100 (M100). His portfolio includes work with prominent repertory companies such as Tryo Teatro Banda, CAPRA Arte Colectivo, Bestia Lúbrica, and Colectivo Locas Putas y Brillantes; municipal theatres such as the Ópera Municipal de Santiago; and major performing arts festivals including Santiago Off, FamFest, Identidades, and FIT Bio Bio.
